For more than 45 years, Valley City has been jumping for joy when frogs take to the pavement to test their leg strength in a peculiar festival that celebrates their leaping abilities. More than two thousand people gather annually to partake in the fun. Frog owners often bring their slimy competitors in old coffee cans, coolers and jars. Diamond Studded Pen Sold For Rs 2.3 m

A pen studded with thousands of dazzling diamonds was sold for 2.3 million rupees at an ongoing jewellery exhibition here over the weekend.The expensive pen is certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI).
"The pen is made in white gold, with around 2,500 natural diamonds, all graded and certified. And also, we have a lining of yellow diamonds, natural fancy yellow diamonds. It has been made by six craftsmen and took around 18 months to make this essentially," said Mani Singh Deo, the organiser of the exhibition.
"The craftsmanship is very exquisite. As you see the pen, you will be able to know that it's a very unique piece and essentially we wanted to make a collector's item and I think we have been fairly successful in doing that," he added.
The exhibition showcased a wide variety of fine jewellery ranging crafted in diamonds and gold, ranging from daily to bridal wear.
Organisers credited their affordable pricing of jewellery as the reason behind the success of the exhibition.
The exhibition was flocked by large number of jewellery enthusiasts and shoppers.
"I think jewellery has got good response, people are interested but those are pieces that people don't buy on impulse. What people are definitely looking for are a trusted jeweler who would give them the kind of designs and the range that they require. We have everything from bridal jewellery to daily wear to 'Tanmanyas', black beads and all of it. People were very happy with the range," said Deo.
Customers were delighted with the shimmering pieces of jewellery and found the products to be matchless in quality and design.
"It's a very nice collection and specially designs. It's a very design oriented thing and there is quite a lot of variety. In each and every category you have a lot of pieces to choose from and a very nice range. The prices are very affordable," said Swathi, a jewellery shopper.
Other than jewellery of various kinds, home and lifestyle decorative artifacts in Porcelain from France and Spain were also displayed, which got a good response from visitors at the expo.
The exhibition will conclude on November 07.

When you buy personal registration numbers you are purchasing the rights to that car registration. Once assigned to a vehicle, ownership of the registration falls to the registered keeper. This article explains how to retain the rights if you sell your vehicle and describes ways to sell private number plates.

Car registration numbers are issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) for taxation purposes and enforcing road laws. On today’s roads however the uses of number plates extends past their primary function and are commonly used to personalize vehicles by people all over the country. From happy couples celebrating 50 years of marriage to motor enthusiasts looking to add the finishing touch to their prized set of wheels, private number plates are becoming ever more popular by the day.

Private number plate suppliers offer access to huge databases of car registrations being sold across the country from cherished number plates to the latest 07 registrations. A common misconception when buying private number plates is that you are simply buying the plastic number plates which go on the car. This would make the number plates worth thousands of pound very expensive sheets of plastic indeed! When buying a personal number plate you are in fact purchasing the rights to a particular car registration. Once assigned to a vehicle, the rights to this private registration fall to the registered keeper.

When you sell a vehicle with private number plates assigned to it, the new registered keeper acquires the rights to the registration number. If you wish to retain the rights to the private registration there are two options. Firstly you can transfer the number plate onto another vehicle you own or secondly you can transfer the car registration number onto a V778 Certificate of Entitlement.

To transfer a number plate from car to car you must complete DVLA form V317 and include the V5 logbooks, MOT certificates (if applicable) and the fee of £80 payable to DVLA.

By selling private number plates you are effectively waiving any rights you have to those particular registration numbers. If you wish to sell your private number plates there are a number of options you can take. Firstly you can sell the vehicle with the car registration still assigned. The new registered keeper will then have full entitlement to the number plate. Alternatively if you are holding the number plate on retention you can sell the certificate to a willing buyer. You will have to have the buyers name added as a nominee if they wish to assign it to their vehicle.

To add a nominee name to retention certificate the owner must sign Section 1 and provide the nominee name. The certificate must then be sent to the DVLA with payment of £25. An updated certificate with the new nominee name will be sent out typically within two weeks. A third option is to sell advertise the number plate whilst still assigned to your car. Once sold the number plate can be transferred vehicle to vehicle via the DVLA.

Selling and buying personal number plates privately can be risky for both the seller and buyer. One of the safest ways to sell private number plates is via a reputable number plate dealer. By doing so both the seller and buyer have the backing of professionals who can act as a middle ground for the exchange of certificates and monies.

   3. Use free software such as Ccleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner) to clean out all your temp files including Internet history and other miscellaneous files.
   4. Make sure you have only one anti-virus software program installed. If you’re not paying for it, then you are not getting the latest protection for new viruses.
   5. Disable excess pop-up blockers. Current Internet browsers have pop-up blockers built-in as do most anti-virus programs, so you may have several installed without knowing it. Select the one that you like best and disable the others.
   6. Check what programs are trying to open at start-up. On a PC, search for System Configuration; on a Mac look under System Preferences/Accounts/Login or System Preferences/Applications/Startup (depending on your OS). Having too many programs trying to start will slow you down. The only programs you need to enable at start-up are a syncing program (if you’re syncing to your smartphone) and your anti-virus program. Some programs, like iTunes and Acrobat, will install unneeded services. Disable them.
   7. Do registry tweaks! Search online for free tweaks available to optimize your operating system. PCTools.com keeps you up-to-date on the latest tricks for performance enhancement. Free MacWare has similar tools and tips for the Mac.
   8. Defrag. Every time you add new programs and files to your computer it becomes “fragmented.” You can schedule regular defragmentation of your computer to keep it running smoothly. Defragmentation takes a while, so do it when you won’t need access to your computer for a few hours.
   9. Adjust your settings. By simply using the performance tools on your computer, you can make some great improvements. Adjust the visual effects, power settings and more to ensure your computer is operating at maximum efficiency.

10. Go external. If you need more disk space, use an external hard drive to store huge files and programs that slow you down.

Once you get your computer to a satisfactory performance level, you may want to invest in an imaging program that brings your computer back to its current level without losing data. Reactions to animal allergens may be very mild or quite severe. Symptoms may occur immediately after exposure to the allergen, or they may build gradually for 8-12 hours after exposure or become persistent.

The power of film, and film music in South Asian society can hardly be overstated.Highlighting the point, Pradip Krishen observes, "Urban environments are cluttered with its signs, filled with its sounds. Its tastes and values spill out to define the very texture of contemporary mass and middle-class culture". This mass culture affects a wide range of activities, but perhaps its most important effect is on music. Film music is the most widely listened to music in South Asia , and since 1931 (the year of the first Indian talkie and the first film song) it has become the dominant force in the construction of musical taste.

Film music in Pakistan has largely been dominated by one female voice, that of Noorjehan. She was already in the prime of her career when Lata Mangeshkar made her debut as a play-back singer in Bombay before Partition. Before the era of play-back singing, Noorjehan was an actress-singer. After Partition, she migrated to Lahore with her husband, Shaukat Hussain Rizvi, the famous producer/ director and film-editor who started Shah Noor Studios in Lahore, one of the centres of Pakistani film activity for the last fifty years. The legendary male film singer Muhammad Rafi made his own debut singing a duet with her. Noorjehan may well have recorded more songs than all the other vocalists in Pakistan films put together. Noorjehan has a full throated voice capable of handling lower registers with remarkable command, a quality that makes her equally at ease with Punjabi and Urdu songs. Her versatility has rendered a large number of her songs part of the region’s collective musical memory.

The Punjab and especially Lahore have made a significant contribution to the film music of India. One pioneering film music director, Ustad Jhande Khan, was a native of Gujranwala, a town 40 miles north-west of Lahore, and the man who introduced Lata to films, Master Ghulam Haidar, was from a rababi family of Lahore. In the late 1940s many of the leading film personalities, music directors and musicians in Bombay were from Lahore or the surrounding areas.

Until the 1960’s Pakistani film music enjoyed a robust period of creative activity with a great number of songs acquiring popularity across the sub-continent. The major music directors of this period (with the noted exception of Khawaja Khurshid Anwar) were mostly rababis. Some of the great names were, Master Inayat Hussain, G.A. Chishti, Rashid Attre, Master Tasadduq, Master Abdullah, Firoze Nizami, Tufail Farooqi and Ustad Nazar. During the early 1960s Urdu film and music quality declined as the result of various factors. The dominance of trend-setting music directors who had experience of Bombay declined and they were replaced by a new and younger generation who tapped the Punjabi film market.

3 Bomb blast today in Lahore at Bhati Gate Details with Video

LAHORE: Thirty-five people were killed and over 150 others injured in three back-to-back explosions, occurring in Lahore when processions of Yaum-e-Ali were on their way to conclude at the Karbala Gamay Shah in the city on Wednesday.

The first blast of a cracker occurred in front of the gate of Lower Mall police station, opposite Karbala Gamay Shah building, at 6:55 pm. It caused panic among the mourners, who started running towards the Bhatti Gate.

Meanwhile, the second blast took place in Ghaznavi Street, Urdu Bazaar’s parking area, at around 7 pm when a suicide bomber blew himself up while he was being frisked by a constable. Two persons, along with the constable, lost their lives in the blast. Other policemen standing there fled the spot.

The third blast occurred at the Bhatti Chowk when another suicide bomber blew himself up about 13 minutes after the second blast. As a result, dozens of people received injuries.

A number of people received injuries in stampede when mourners ran in various directions to save their lives. Panic gripped not only the mourners but also the policemen who, instead of maintaining the law and order situation, fled, leaving the injured in pools of blood at the Bhatti Chowk.

The furious mob took the amputated legs of the suicide bomber, who had blown himself up at the Bhatti Gate, to the front gate of the Government College University and vented their anger by hitting them with shoes, sticks and bricks.

The angry mob, armed with clubs and sticks, besieged the Lower Mall police station and set a police truck on fire. The police fired tear-gas shells and resorted to firing into the air from the rooftop of the building to disperse the mob, which was trying to make their forced entry into the building.

A woman said she, along with her two children, huddled behind a counter placed on a footpath as she could not leave the place because of the mad rush. A youth said the explosion was louder than a jet engine sound.

The impact was so great that it shattered windowpanes of the nearby shops and buildings. He said his brother suffered injuries from flying articles. “When I saw the rescue workers coming up, I knew that everything would be all right,” he added.

The angry mob overpowered the policemen and gave them a good thrashing. The policemen standing far away from the scene could not dare come forward to rescue their colleagues. The protesters also pulled drivers of several ambulances out of their vehicles and beat them up. They damaged dozens of ambulances and police vehicles with sticks and bricks.

The protesters chanted slogans against the police over the security lapse. The angry mob also pelted security officials and the media personnel with stones. A police personnel carrier was seen running over the mob when the driver witnessed the angry mob beating up the policemen with kicks, fists and sticks.

Many people complained that the police did not install walkthrough gates at the entry points. According to Rescue 1122, over 150 injured persons had been shifted to various hospitals, and 65 of them, including six policemen, were stated to be critical. Around 85 injured persons were taken to the Mayo Hospital besides 11 bodies brought to the city morgue. At least, 25 injured were taken to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Women, children and policemen were among the injured.

Right after the incident, emergency was declared in all the government hospitals while emergency counters were established to facilitate the patients’ relatives. Due to the violent reaction of the protesters, the police could not preserve the crime sites. The charred body parts of many victims were still lying at the crime scene. However, the police recovered the torsos of the two suicide bombers.

Senior police officers, including CCPO Lahore, DIG Operations and others did not reach the crime site. They did not inspect the crime scene, including Bhatti Gate and Ghaznavi Street. The commissioner and the DCO admitted the incident occurred due to a security lapse. No FIR was registered till the filing of the report.

Meanwhile, doctors of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital closed the emergency after an exchange of hot words with policemen and relatives of the injured people. Meanwhile, various political and religious leaders strongly condemned the explosions. They were Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, President Asif Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Ch Pervaiz Elahi, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawwar Hasan, leaders of Sunni Ittehad Council and Tahafuz-i-Namoos-i-Risalat Mahaz (TNRM), Haji Fazal Karim, Riaz Hussain Shah, Raghib Hussain Naeemi, and Haji Hanif Tayyab, Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leader Abdul Khaliq Asadi and others.

PM Gilani, President Zardari, CM Shahbaz Sharif promised to bring the culprits to book and provide all help to the injured at government hospitals.

Have Protein at Every Meal and Snack.
